Tracy Saboe

A man entered the wrong house in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, at about 2:30 p.m. Monday looking for revenge and shot and killed Tracy Saboe, 40, a graduate of Bonners Ferry High School and the son of Bob and Verla Mae Saboe, Bonners Ferry.

When Alton Ray Bear, 45, realized his mistake, police say, he went to the correct house a short distance away on North Prairie Avenue and shot three more people, including the man he believed assaulted a family member. All three survived.

Bear was captured and taken into custody at about 3:30 p.m., but Tracy's death wasn't discovered until his wife found his body on getting home from work shortly before 8 p.m. According to police, Saboe and Bear had a brief altercation after Bear broke into his home, during which Bear shot him once in the head.

Alton Ray Bear

Bear is in custody facing charges including murder and manslaughter.

Our deepest condolences go out to Bob and Verla Mae and to all who knew and loved Tracy.
