A U.S. Army veteran and Hoquiam, Washington, police officer, married to a Bonners Ferry woman and who spoke at and marched in the first Bonners Ferry Carry the Fallen Ruck March, gave in to the despair of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and took his own life at his home in Ocean Shores, Washington, on Tuesday, January 14.

Because he died by his own hand, the family of Phillip High; his wife Molly, formerly Cathcart, and son Adrian, will receive no survivor benefits.

Family friend Deanna Sanborn stared a GoFundMe account to help Molly and Adrian, who need help with the upcoming funeral, mortgage and bills. The money will also be used for lodging for the family, since they are unable to emotionally go back to the house Phil died in.

"Any amount of money donated is greatly appreciated," Deana wrote.

There has also been a fund started at Bank of the Pacific, account number 1000135846.
