Setting a national Old Senior shooting record were (l-r) Tom Daniel, Don Jordan, Greg Mead and Ken Kessler.

Four members of the Kootenai Valley Rifle & Pistol Club set a new national record last year, and they'll be trying to best it and set a new record at the Bonners Ferry Range on Saturday, February 15.

On February 16, 2019, Greg Mead, Tom Daniel, Don Jordan and Ken Kessler, all aged 60 or older, bested the Old Senior record by 21 points, shooting a combined score of 4,264 points out of a possible 4,800.

Using .22 rifles, they shot along with 14 others at a target 50-feet away from the prone, standing and kneeling positions. To score a perfect 10, the shooter had to take out a dot about the size of the period at the end of this sentence.

The National Rifle Association confirmed their record in January, just in time for Saturday's noon shoot at the Highway 2 Range across from Sater's Auction.

All interested in learning more or cheering the old guys on are welcome to stop by! The team practices at the range at 6:30 p.m. each Wednesday.
