Jim Neumayer's great granddaughter has faced challenges that would have bowed most, but Makayla Wagner, Rathdrum, has such an irrepressible strength and resilience that she not only stands strong, she absolutely soars with a humor, grace, beauty and style that belies the depths from which she has risen.

In December 2018, Makayla, the single mother of two boys, was diagnosed with synovial sarcoma, a very rare form of cancer. She conquered immense pain, chemotherapy, hair loss and the amputation of her right arm in quelling and overcoming the awful demon.

Now, she's joined the team at the Spokane Valley Hut no. 8 clothing exchange, helping women across the Inland Northwest find their style and spirit.

"Meet one of our beautiful and inspiring brand ambassadors, Makayla! She’s a survivor!" Hut no. 8 owners posted today to Facebook. "We are so proud to be represented by the strong women of the inland northwest."

Established in Spokane in 2013 and locally owned and operated, Hut no. 8, a name brand clothing exchange, was created to provide customers with the hottest clothing brands at a great price in an organized and trendy environment. They set out to be different than the corporate resale stores in town by treating customers with kindness.

Spokane Valley Hut no. 8 is at 15412 East Sprague Avenue, Suite 17, Spokane Valley, and those from Bonners Ferry who might be down that way are invited to stop in, say "hi," and let her know just how proud her great grandpa is of her.
