The Bonners Ferry High School football field will light up on Friday night, April 10, one of about 100 schools around the state that will turn on stadium lights to honor students and communities in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.

At precisely 8:20 p.m. Friday, the lights at Kenny Mendenhall Stadium at Bonners Ferry High School will be turned on. The stadium will be empty and quiet, yet somehow perfect in the moment.

The timing is symbolic to recognize eight weeks of school left and 20 to honor the graduating class of 2020.

At 8:40, the stadium will go dark again.
