Holly Ansley put up 14 points to lead all scorers Tuesday as the Badgers hosted Lakeland, but a short jumper by Hawk Katy Ryan at the final buzzer gave Lakeland a one point win, 53-52.
The Lady Badgers worked to a point lead at the end of the first quarter, 10-9, but the Hawks found their stride in the second, out shooting the Badgers 19-11 to go to the locker room ahead, 28-21.
The Badgers stayed close in the third, and pulled ahead in the final, up by three with 40 seconds left, and both teams traded shots from the foul line.
Then, with three seconds left, Hawk Darby McDevitt put the inbound pass into Ryan's hands, who sealed the win for Lakeland.
Baylee Blackmore scored 11 for the Badgers, Sadie Hill 3, Sierra Petesch 2, Sierra Hill 9, Grace Villelli 9 and Emma Pinkerton 4 to round out the Badger scoring.
The loss puts the Badgers at 1-1 on the season, after they defeated St, Maries in their season opener November 16.
The Badgers play another home game at 7 p.m. Tuesday, November 26, hosting the Wallace Miners. JV action begins at 5:30 p.m.
