A Boundary County man posted to Facebook early this morning that a friend texted him last night and said he was driving to Montana Tuesday evening from Bonners Ferry and about half a mile west of the state line came upon armed guards who had the highway blocked with ecology blocks. He said they turned him away, saying only Montana residents could pass.

"They didn’t have any signage or marked vehicles and none identified themselves as any agency but they were in body armor and seemed like feds or military," he wrote. "They wouldn’t let him out if his vehicle either."

Naturally, he had questions.

A spokesman from the Boundary County Sheriff's Office said they have heard no such reports. To date, there have been no interstate travel bans or restrictions imposed within the United States as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

If this is in fact happening, it's an illegal roadblock and the sheriff's office should be notified; call (208) 267-3151, extension 0.
