A Rathdrum man pulled off the westbound lane of I-90 just after noon today, attempted to cross the freeway and was hit and killed by a semi.
According to the Idaho State Police, Joshua C. Brown, 38, was driving a red and white Chevy S-10 pickup west on I-90 at about 12:09 p.m. when he pulled over near mile 8.9 in the area of the Huetter rest stop, exited his vehicle and, for reasons unknown, attempted to cross the freeway.
He was struck by a 2013 Peterbilt semi pulling a car hauler driven by Michael B. Johnson, 64, Clarkridge, Arkansas.
The impact knocked Brown to the right shoulder of the roadway, where he died of his injuries.
I-90 was shut down for about two hours. The investigation is continuing.
