Wednesday's storm is blamed for capsizing a watercraft on Lake Pend Orielle in which one person died.

According to the Bonner County Sheriff's Office, the capsizing with numerous people in the water was reported by another boater, who had pulled six from the water, at about 5:15 p.m. The sheriff's patrol boat arrived withing seven minutes of the call and rescued three more.

The 21-foot ski boat was reported to have taken on considerable water from high storm surf prior to overturning.

One of those from the stricken vessel said there had been 10 aboard and deputies immediately resumed the search and were joined by vessels from Selkirk Fire and Samowen Fire, as well as members of the Bonner County Sheriff's Dive Team.

The body of the missing boater was eventually recovered and none of the other occupants were injured. The victim's name has not been released pending notification of family.
