The birth of our Lord Jesus was celebrated in many ways during the December 5 monthly meeting of the Bonners Ferry United Methodist Church Women. Christmas treats were provided by several of the ladies and enjoyed by all.

Our Spiritual Growth Mission Coordinator, Wilma DeVore, provided a beautiful devotion by Helen Steiner Rice and then asked Jeanne Osborn if she would read something. She did and then Wilma told her the author was ... Jeanne!

She had written it for one of our Advent devotionals several years ago! Tears came!!

New Reading Program books were shared, including Midnight Teacher, beautifully illustrated and written for children. We offered it to Shirley Anderson for use with Children’s Church.

These books, when not being read by our UMW members, are available for check out by the congregation in our Quiet Room library at the top of the stairs. They are in five categories: Spiritual Growth, Social Ac-tion, Nurturing for Community, Education for Mission, and Leadership Development.

Nancy Myers treated us to beautiful and tasty gifts which she had made. Charlene Mullis gave each of us hand crocheted pocket crosses. Shirley Anderson led a moving installation service, centered on Anderson’s Pond. All newly elected officers were present to be duly installed for the 2020 year.

Gini Woodward provided Christmas cards and materials to decorate and sign, one for each of the 53 State Hospital North patients. Some do not get any mail so this is our gift of love for them.

Our meeting closed with singing favorite Christmas carols.

The Executive Committee met and has planned meaningful programs for 2020 beginning with January 2 when Judy Baruth will be sharing pictures and stories of her recent travels to Albania. Judy’s travelogues are always special. All ladies of the church and friends are welcome to attend.
