A Troy, Montana, man died Monday in a two vehicle collision in the Spokane Valley, and the Ohio driver who hit him is charged with vehicular homicide.
According to the Washington State Patrol, Josiah Stoke, 22, Blacklick, Ohio, was speeding west on Trent Avenue at about 7:43 p.m. Monday, June 29, when he hit a truck driven by Matthew Mischenko, 36, Troy, who turning east onto Trent from Butler Road.
The force of the impact pushed the truck across the road, and the collision shut down Trent Avenue for a time.
Mischenko was not wearing a seat belt and was thrown from his vehicle. He died at the scene. Stoke, believe intoxicated at the time of the collision, sustained serious injuries and was transported to Sacred Heart Medical Center, Spokane.
