Change in the weather headed our way

7:10 a.m. Thursday, September 6, 2018
By Mike Weland

A little smoky this morning in the metro but part of that smoke is productive as farmers in the valley are now able to burn the stubble off their fields before winter sets in. Mostly sunny as we start our day this Thursday, but changes in the forecast lie ahead.

As of 6:23 a.m., it was 43 in Bonners Ferry, 55 in Porthill, no reading this morning in Eastport, 43 degrees in Troy and the Upper Pack. At 7:25, it was 40 in Troy, 32 in the Yaak and 42 at Bull Lake.

We're looking for a high today of 85 degrees in Bonners Ferry, with 53 degrees by 8 a.m., 75 by noon, and 85 by 3 p.m. Sunset tonight is 7:17 p.m., sunrise is 6:10 a.m. on Friday and our overnight low of 53 arrive in the 6 a.m. hour.

The average high/low temperatures in Bonners Ferry for September 6 is 72/42, the record low was 15 degrees in 2000, the record high was 97 set in 1909.

In Troy, look for 52 degrees at 9 a.m., 69 by noon and a daytime high of 83 degrees by 4 p.m. Sunset is at 8:15 p.m. today, sunrise is at 7:08 a.m. and the morning low of 49 arrives at about 5 a.m.

The average high/low in Troy for today is 74/42, the record low was 17 in 1985 and the record high was 102 in 1998.

Look for the sun to stick around over the metropolis today and Friday, the we see some clods move in for the weekend as a cold front slides in, on Saturday look for a high of 77 in Bonners Ferry and 71 in Troy, the dropping into the upper 60s for highs the rest of next week.

A 20% chance of showers in Bonners Ferry Monday increases to 50% overnight and into Tuesday and Wednesday in Bonners and 40% in Troy. This could be the slow soaker we need to finally finish off the fire season in our neck of the woods.

Badger girl's soccer is on tap at home against CdA Charter at 4 p.m. today, and it's open mic night at the Pearl Theater from 7 to 9 this evening. If you know of things going on in Troy, don't hesitate to drop me an email, [email protected] or call (208) 295-1016.
