KootenaiValleyTimes.com was established March 1, 2017, by longtime Bonners Ferry reporter Mike Weland (Bonners Ferry Herald, print Kootenai Valley Times, KBFI Radio, NewsBF, Boundary County PIO) with the idea of providing responsive local news at the speed of the internet and in time to make a difference, supporting and connecting our communities along the banks of the Kootenai River; Bonners Ferry, Idaho, Troy and Libby, Montana, and Creston, BC.

Despite challenges related to the COVID-19 pandemic including a transition to remote learning midway through the semester, a total of 913 students at Lewis-Clark State College earned honor roll distinction this spring, LC State administrators announced. Boundary County was well represented.

Emmitt D. Driver known to many as “Bo Driver” died at the age of 70 at Boundary Community Hospital in Bonners Ferry on Memorial Day, May 25, 2020, 30 years to the day that he made Bonners Ferry his permanent home. A private Celebration of his Life will be held at a later date.

Richard Gene Poulton, 66, passed away peacefully at home the evening of May 29 surrounded by family. A private graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, June 12, at Grandview Cemetery in Bonners Ferry. A celebration of life will follow at The Springs at Kootenai River Inn.

Colonel Al W. Farnsworth, USAF, 95, passed away quietly at his home in Bonners Ferry on May 27, 2020. A memorial service will be held at Grandview Cemetery in Bonners Ferry at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 13.
