KootenaiValleyTimes.com was established March 1, 2017, by longtime Bonners Ferry reporter Mike Weland (Bonners Ferry Herald, print Kootenai Valley Times, KBFI Radio, NewsBF, Boundary County PIO) with the idea of providing responsive local news at the speed of the internet and in time to make a difference, supporting and connecting our communities along the banks of the Kootenai River; Bonners Ferry, Idaho, Troy and Libby, Montana, and Creston, BC.

Brian and Courtney Morter, Bonners Ferry, were blessed with a baby girl, Hannah Rose, Monday evening, December 9, at St. Anthony Hospital, Pendleton, Oregon.

This year's sixth annual Night of Nativities features hundreds of unique and beautiful nativity sets from around the world; Japan, Mongolia, Germany, France and elsewhere, and many are not only for children, but made by the hands of children!

On behalf of the Bonners Ferry FFA chapter, we would like to thank the community of Boundary County for donating items, attending and participating in the 71st Annual Harvest Auction. This year, we made a few drastic changes.

Each year, nearly 38,000 high school students from across the country enter to win a share of the $2.2 million in educational scholarships and incentives awarded through the VFW's Voice of Democracy audio-essay competition.


John Fritts passed away at his home near Naples on December 7, 2019.  Funeral services are pending and a full obituary will follow.

Lloyd B. Richardson passed away on December 6, 2019, at Hearthstone Village in Sandpoint. Private arrangements are being made.

Vicky A. Colter passed away on December 8, 2019, at her home near Naples, Idaho. Private arrangements are being made made.

Kathleen S. Hedrick passed away on December 7, 2019 at her home near Naples, Idaho. Private arrangements are beinig made.
